LAS VEGAS (KTNV) — Hotel security has already been involved in a few shooting incidents to start the new year, including a deadly altercation.
Las Vegas police continue to investigate two shootings that occurred Friday afternoon, and Henderson police have their own investigation stemming from a shooting at the Green Valley Ranch.

Police said Friday's situation began as a dispute between two men and one of the men pulled out a gun and fired at the other male. That man was struck in the hand and elbow.

Security guards responded to the shooting and a guard shot at a suspect who was 'fleeing.'
The suspect was last seen headed south on Interstate 15.
Tuesday, the HPD was called to Green Valley Ranch in Henderson to respond to a shots fired call.

Authorities said an armed man was shot after showing a handgun to security guards during a confrontation in the East Tower lobby.
The suspect received medical aid at the scene but ultimately died from his injuries sustained, according to police.

Retired detective Phil Ramos has worked alongside Las Vegas hotel security and says the incidents appear isolated and random.
'In this day and age, things are going to happen anywhere,' Ramos said.
After 1 October, many properties have overhauled their security procedures - ensuring a quick detection and response to any incident in and around a resort.

'The hotels and casinos are now requiring extensive background either military or law enforcement for its guards,' Ramos said.
